U.S Passport and Immigrant Visa Return Procedure

• Immigrant visa packets and passports, as well as US Passports, will be returned to applicants from the VFS U.S. centre at Lagos only. These services will not be provided in Abuja.
  
  
• U.S. passport applicants will have the option to collect his/her Passport at the U.S. Consulate General at no charge, or from VFS for a fee as described below.
  
  
• The Service fee of Naira 1250 needs to be paid at VFS Centre per family for immigrant visa collection, and Naira 1250 per passport for U.S. Passport collection.
  
  
• Passports and IV packets will be available for pickup at VFS between 0800 hrs to 1600 hrs, Monday to Friday (except on holidays declared by Consulate or Nigerian Government)
  
  
• The Consulate General will provide applicants for immigrant visas with a coloured stub with a unique number and a letter. The Letter needs to be shown at the VFS counter and payment needs to be made at the bank counter in VFS.
  
  
• After receiving payment on behalf of VFS, the implant bank will issue a receipt in triplicate. The first copy will be given to the applicant, the second copy to VFS and is third copy for the bank’s records.
  
  
• Upon finishing bank formalities, applicants need to collect his/her IV visa document or U.S. passport respectively from the VFS counter next to bank.
  
  
• An Authorized representative can collect on behalf of an applicant, provided his/her name is given to the Consulate at the time of interview, and is noted on the collection form.
  
  
• Applicants and authorized representatives must show valid photo i.d. in order to collect documents from VFS.
  
  

NOTE :

• Do not forget to mention your representative's name on the Collection form at the Consulate.
  
  
• Please note, for IV applicants, a sealed envelope will be handed over along with the passport. The envelope must be opened only by a representative of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services upon arrival in the United States.
  
  
• IV Packet & Passports not collected within 14 business days from the date of arrival at VFS centre will be returned to the Consulate.
  
  
• US Passports not collected within 30 days from the date of arrival at VFS centre, will be returned to the Consulate
